Do you have to be Irish?
You don't have to be Irish to Irish dance–Irish dance is for everyone! Whether you’re a child or an adult, regardless of gender, fitness level, or experience, anyone can join and enjoy learning Irish dance. We encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to experience the joy and artistry of this unique dance form.
At what age can my child start Irish dance?
Students can begin learning Irish dance as early as 3 years old! Our beginner classes are designed to help children build confidence and coordination, while more advanced classes focus on developing technique and performance skills.
Do I need to have prior dance experience?
Not at all! Irish dance welcomes beginners of all experience levels. Our instructors provide personalized attention to ensure that every student, whether they are starting for the first time or looking to develop their skills, feels supported and encouraged.

Are there performance opportunities?
Yes! We offer a variety of performance opportunities throughout the year, including local community events, feiseanna (competitions), and our annual showcases. Performing is a great way for students to build confidence and showcase the skills they’ve developed in class.
What is a feis (pronounced “fesh”)?
A feis is a traditional Irish dance competition where dancers showcase their skills in front of a panel of judges. At Penk O’Donnell School, we support dancers who are interested in competing at both local and national feiseanna. Our experienced instructors provide guidance and preparation for these events.
